Church Leadership Team

(a)    The Leaders will consist of at least seven members (18 years and above) and will typically be leaders of the various ministry teams. 

(b)   The Leaders will be nominated by the congregation at the annual general meetings and will be selected by majority vote of the members and will serve for a term of three years to be reaffirmed annually with a one year break between terms. (AGM 2014 changes) 

The total to fill in the form requirement is 7 members and we propose to keep it this way only.  

  

Proposed election structure is as follows –  

We will have for first year only-   i.e. 2010 to 2011 — 
2 member’s  term will be  1 year 
2 member’s  term will be 2 years  
3 member’s  term will be 3 years 
 
In 2011 there will be an election for 2 members for 3 years term to replace  first 2 members  
In 2012 there will be an election for 2 members for 3 years term to replace next 2 members 
In 2013 there will be an election for 3 members for 3 years term to replace next 3 members 
 
This way every year there will be an election for 2 or 3 members for the term of 3 years. 

  

(c)    The Leaders shall recommend to the church, the objectives and goals in keeping with CGC’s purpose, values and practices. 

(d) Leaders shall demonstrate an exemplary Christian testimony in private, family and public life; be a committed Christian leader and partner of the pastor; supporter and promoter of the church faith, values, practices, programs and ministries and will display Christian maturity. 

(e)   Leaders serve as a team to assist the Pastor in spiritual ministry to the congregation.  

(f)   They seek to resolve any fellowship problem of the church. 

(g)   They work with the pastors to implement any church discipline when deemed necessary and to restore people to active membership when church discipline has taken place. 

(h)    In the absence of the pastor, one of the Leaders will serve as an advisory member to all organizations, departments, and teams. 

(i)  The Leaders assist the pastor to set and implement spiritual vision among the church. 

(j)  The Leaders will be in scriptural mentoring relationships with the congregation at CGC. They will also be encouraged to strengthen in their faith for their ministry. 

(k)   The Leaders will develop a calendar and give budget recommendations to the Finance Team for the upcoming year. 

Terms of Service 

The chosen leader shall serve until the relationship is terminated by either his request or the request of the church or at the end of appointed term. 

Should the leader terminate the relationship a minimum 30-day notice should be given.
